Do I need to be a part of a Lutheran church to have my child attend preschool here?

Although all are welcome to worship with us at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, you do not need to belong to the Lutheran faith for your child to attend the preschool. We are a Christian preschool and welcome all children.

When do you start registering for preschool?

We begin registering for the Fall start of preschool the previous March. Contact us as soon a possible to secure your child's place in class. You can send an email to stmatthewlutheranpreschool@gmail.com or call us at 360 551-4704 or

360 457-4122.

How old does my child need to be to attend preschool?

Your child needs to be three years of age by August 31 to attend preschool at St. Matthew Preschool.
We also have a birth to three program for younger children.

My child is not yet old enough to attend preschool. Can I still register them?

YES! we have a list of the coming school years your child can be placed on until they are old enough to start preschool. Just message us with your contact information, and we will call you and make it happen.

Does my child need to wear a school uniform?

Yes, here at St. Matthew, our uniform is khaki bottoms and a red polo shirt. You will receive a shirt with the logo on it with your registration fee. We have shorts for purchase, or you may buy them and a red shirt elsewhere. The logo does not need to be on the shirt. Girls wearing khaki skirts and jumpers need to wear shorts or tights underneath. Children need to wear closed-toe shoes. Preschoolers need to bring an extra change of clothes in their backpacks.

What does my child need to bring to school each day?

Your child will need a backpack to bring each day with a uniform change inside, along with a coat/jacket.

My child is almost potty trained. Can they still attend?

Preschoolers need to be potty trained and independent in this area when coming to preschool.

What do you do when it snows?

We follow the Port Angeles school district for road conditions on inclement weather days. If public schools are canceled or delayed due to the weather, preschool is canceled for the day.
