Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a part of a Lutheran church to have my child attend St. Matthew Lutheran Preschool?
Although all are welcome to worship with us at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, you do not need to belong to the Lutheran faith for your child to attend the preschool. We are a Christian preschool and welcome all children.
When does preschool registration begin?
We begin registering for the Fall start of preschool the previous March. Contact us to secure your child's place in class as soon as possible. Call us at 360.457.4122 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a registration form or use the link at the top of this page to print a copy. Your child's spot in the class is reserved when the preschool receives the completed registration form, and the registration fee is paid.
How old does my child need to be to attend preschool?
Your child needs to be three years of age by August 31 to attend preschool at St. Matthew Lutheran Preschool.
My child is not yet old enough to attend preschool. Can I still register them?
We have a list of the coming school years your child can be placed on until they are old enough to start preschool. Message us with your contact information, and we will call you when your child is old enough.
Does my child need to wear a school uniform?
Yes, at St. Matthew Lutheran Preschool, our uniform is khaki bottoms and a red polo shirt. You will receive a shirt with the preschool logo after your child's registration fee is paid. Girls wearing khaki skirts and jumpers need to wear shorts or tights underneath. Children need to wear closed-toe shoes. Preschoolers need to bring an extra change of clothes in their backpacks.
What does my child need to bring to school each day?
Your child needs to bring a backpack to preschool each day packed with a uniform change and a coat or jacket.
A healthy snack from home and a water bottle must also be included in your child's backpack.
My child is almost potty trained. Can they still attend?
Preschoolers need to be potty trained and independent in this area when coming to preschool.
What does the preschool do when it snows?
We follow the Port Angeles school district for road conditions on inclement weather days. If public schools are canceled or delayed due to the weather, preschool is canceled for the day.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
